The Spirit of the Skopje Urban House
An exhibition featuring the façades of five houses from the historic urban fabric of Madžir Maalo, exploring the qualities of the traditional urban house.
Exhibition at the Youth Cultural Center – Skopje, as part of the Skopje Kreativa 2019 program, supported by Lokomotiva and the City of Skopje.
The project “The Spirit of the Skopje Urban House” explores the qualities of the traditional urban house and reinterprets them through an exhibition featuring the façades of five houses from the historic urban fabric of Madžir Maalo.
By bringing this vanishing architectural heritage closer to the public, the project aims to encourage citizens to recognize and appreciate its value. At the same time, it invites reflection on the direction contemporary residential architecture is taking.
The exhibition highlights values such as order, symmetry, proportion, ethics, and aesthetics that characterize traditional architecture and contribute to harmony in the urban environment. At the same time, it subtly critiques contemporary unplanned construction and urban disorder.
